1. Bananas are actually berries

This is true believe it or not. Yes, according to botanists, the method by which bananas grow technically makes them berries.

2. McDonalds wasn’t the first fast food chain

When you think of fast food, McDonalds is probably the first thing which comes to mind. As it turns out, McDonalds wasn’t the first company to pioneer the idea of getting your food in minutes. Nope, that prize belongs to White Castle, which opened almost 30 years before the first McDonalds.

3. Oranges are not the best source of Vitamin C

Oranges are commonly associated with Vitamin C. Strangely enough, they are not actually a good source of this vitamin. It might sound weird, but the same amount of broccoli has far more vitamin C than an orange. Not only that, broccoli also contains more protein than steak.

4. Lasagna didn’t originate in Greece

This might sound hard to believe, but lasagna doesn’t actually come from Italy. The truth is that this dish was first invented in Greece, and then introduced to Italy by the Romans.

5. Ice cream is the world’s oldest desert

This desert originated all the way back in 2nd century B.C. Back then people like Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar enjoyed eating fresh snow, which was flavored in honey or fruit juice. Over time this concoction slowly developed into the sweet treat that we enjoy today.

10. Carrots are sweeter in Winter

There’s a simple reason for this. When its cold outside, carrots raise their sugar levels. This helps to guard against frost and the formation of ice crystals.
